The seven-color stone bank

The seven-color stone bank is located at Co Thach tourist sites of Binh Thanh commune, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province. It is formed naturally by the effect of tides, sea currents and brine. The stone bank is about 1km long and about 200-300m wide. These stones have been being pushed from the sea bed to the shore everyday since the ancient times
.

There are some stones in perfectly square shape like a match-box, while the other are triangular, hexagonal, lozenge-shaped… Not only have various shapes, the pebbles here also have many different colors like white, black, yellow, brown…with beautiful veins.

Looking down from a high place, the seven-color stone bank is like an original picture of nature with numberless pebbles in many colors and shapes. Under the sunlight and the waves of the ocean splash, the whole bank turns sparkling as pure gems. Visiting here, tourists must be surprised by the alteration of stones, which is depended on the ebb and flow of tides in different seasons.

According to the researchers, stones here are diversified by the effect of tides, sea currents and brine. The stones are pushed from the sea bed to the shore, then being polished day by day to become like this. This seven-color stone bank was officially recognized as the old stones bank which has the most shapes and colors in Vietnam by Vietkings in the end of 2001.

Apart from colorful stones, Co Thach beach also attracts tourists with its big rocks in many shapes connected with interesting legends. Some bumpy rocks look like giant sea monsters emerge from the sea bed, while others rise up to the sea waiting for waves of the ocean splash. On the south-west of the bank, the shiny black stone-map resembles a thousand-years-old castle, which is surrounded by a pristine sand bank named Bai Tien (fairy bank). Legend has it that fairies once came here to bath, dance and sing.
