 On the morning of September 27, the traditional rituals of Kate festival officially took place at the Po Sha Inu tower (Phu Hai ward, Phan Thiet city). The festival will continuously occur within 2 days (September 27 -28) with unique colors of Cham culture.

With the meaning of preserving, exploiting and promoting the national cultural heritage as well as promoting precious traditional beauty to domestic and foreign tourists, the Kate Festival in 2019 includes2 main part: The rituals and cultural activities. The rituals will be directly conducted by dignitaries of Cham people in Ham Thuan Bac district; the cultural activities are the traditional game’s competitions, traditional handicrafts and Cham folk art performances.

Opening the festival is the peace – praying festival at the main tower (Tower A) performed by Cham ethnic religious dignitaries in Ham Thuan Bac district.  The main rite will take place on the morning of September 28 with ceremony for bringing costume of goddess Po Sha Inu up to the main tower. The procession includes religious dignitaries of Cham, dance team, Cham folk music band, Cham people in Ham Thuan Bac, Bac Binh, Tuy Phong, Ham Tan, Ham Thuan Nam and Tanh Linh districts, local people and visitors. The following ones will be opening the tower’s door, washing the altar of Linga – Yoni, wearing costume and so on.

The festival will continuously take place within 2 days with many activities such as: making gingerbread, playing Saranai trumpet, decorating Thônla and Cổ Bồng (Vietnamese names) to offer the goddess Po Sah In. In addition, there will be music performance by Bule- sea theater and Cham performance teams from the districts of Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham Tan and Tanh Linh. On September 28, there will be the traditional games and weaving like pottery making, rice crushing, obstacle race, tug of war…
During the festival, at Po Sha Inu tower, there will be also a space for displaying and introducing the typical images about the tourism, culture, festivals, relics, agricultural products, handicrafts, souvenirs ect.  In addition, coming and experiencing the Kate festival this year, visitors will have chance to know more about the the 10.000 year old relic of Cham tower and the love story between the poet Han Mac Tu and beautiful girl Mong Cam attached to the famous destination Lau Ong Hoang.
