Kate Festival is a traditional festival of Cham People in Binh Thuan, the festival is to commemorate the gods and to pray for a pumper crop, a harmony of couple, a growth of human being and creature. This is also a chance for Cham people all over the places in the nation to return to the homeland to get together with their families friends and relatives

(Muinetourism.vn).- On the morning of September 28th, at Po Sah Inu tower, Phan Thiet city (Binh Thuan province), the opening ceremony of Kate Festival 2019 took place according to the traditional customs of the Cham people. Attending to the festival, there were Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party – Mr. Huynh Thanh Canh; Deputy Director Binh Thuan Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism - Miss Nguyen Lan Ngoc, leaders of departments, localities in the province, religious dignitaries, Cham artisans, local people and tourists all over the places.

Kate Festival is a traditional festival of Cham People in Binh Thuan, the festival is to commemorate the gods and to pray for a pumper crop, a harmony of couple, a growth of human being and creature. This is also a chance for Cham people all over the places in the nation to return to the homeland to get together with their families friends and relatives. The Kate festival 2019 is to reserve and promote the value of Cham cultural heritage in Binh Thuan province. In addition, the festival also contributes to introduce the special history, people, culture to the tourists inside and outside the country.

The Kate festival this year started with the ritual of welcoming costume of Po Sah Inu goddess up to the main tower under the conduct of Cam dignitaries. The followings were opening tower’s door, bathing Liga – Yoni statue, worshiping at the man tower.

Together with that, there were many traditional contests and folk games such as:  making ginger, weaving, playing Sarnai trumpet, making pottery, rice crushing, obstacle race, tug of war, stilt walking, ect.
